California’s Supreme Court ruled 4-3 under the state
Constitution that same-sex couples may not be excluded from civil marriage. The
court ruled there is a fundamental right to form a family through marriage. It
recognized that this is a basic civil right that applies to “Californians,
whether gay or heterosexual, and to same-sex couples as well as to opposite-sex
couples.”

What a wonderful
celebration of love and equality for all human beings!
Stacy and I had already been planning our June 8 wedding for almost
nine months by the time the court declared that our relationship deserves the
same dignity, respect and stature as that of other couples. Our special day was
made that much sweeter by this historic recognition. For a glimpse of our

Being true to myself is
fundamental to the quality to my life. Living fully and authentically, with or
without permission, provides me with a richness and satisfaction that I wouldn't
trade for anything. Then, when and if acceptance or
acknowledgment is offered, I simply smile a little
bigger.
