Spyro Gyra inspired a whole new audience of jazz lovers with their upbeat, tropical sound. Forty years later, this band continues to be a creative force in contemporary instrumental music. Saxophonist Sonya Jason pays tribute to this influencial group during an Oceanfront Afternoon Concert in Half Moon Bay, CA on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Sonya Jason's TIGRESS band celebrates the innovative jazz fusion artists of the '70s & '80s, performing the music of Spyro Gyra, Grover Washington Jr., Chuck Mangione, David Sanborn, Yellowjackets, George Benson, Miles Davis, Gato Barbieri, Michael Brecker, Dave Grusin, The Crusaders, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report and others.

The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society in Half Moon Bay has been presenting top jazz, classical and world music concerts since 1964.
