Hello Music Lover!
"When you are studying jazz, the best thing to do is to listen to recordings and live music as much as you can and absorb everything."
--Carla Bley, jazz composer/pianist
No wonder the Jazzschool in Berkeley has created such an intimate concert space that invites audience participation! Listening is essential to music education. And for non-musicians, "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." (Berthold Auerbach) So, it is with great pleasure that the TIGRESS band performs a concert at the Jazzschool on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. This may be the last chance to hear this group live until New Year's Eve, so don't miss it!
Sonya Jason's TIGRESS band celebrates the innovative jazz fusion artists of the '70s & '80s, performing the music of Spyro Gyra, Grover Washington Jr., Chuck Mangione, David Sanborn, Yellowjackets, George Benson, Jeff Lorber, Gato Barbieri, Michael Brecker, Dave Grusin, The Crusaders, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report and others.
"The lady can play! Emotion and fire well-tempered by a sensitive, warm approach. And she's funky as hell!"
-- Phil Woods, legendary jazz saxophonist
