full long nights moon

Hello dear friend,

This weekend, our night sky will be lit up by the full moon commonly known in the Northern Hemisphere as the Full Long Nights Moon. It takes its name from the winter solstice, which is the longest night of the year.

According to Pagan tradition, on years that the full moon falls before the winter solstice, it is also referred to as the Mourning Moon. As the last full moon that rises before the year draws to a close, it is a time of endings and cleansing - a time to rest and to heal.

I asked my spirit teachers for guidance during this full moon as we prepare for the longest dark night during winter solstice next weekend. In response, Spirit put a song in my head! When I looked up the lyrics, I realized how perfect this message is for us right now. It is never too late for us to be gentle with ourselves and those around us.
Stay Gentle
by Brandi Carlile

Stay gentle, keep the eyes of a child

Don't harden your heart or your hands
Know to find joy in the darkness is wise
Although they will think you don't understand

Don't let the world make you callous

Be ready to laugh
No one's forgotten about us
There is light on your path

Stay gentle, keep the eyes of a child

And wear your heart on your sleeve
Know to find joy in the darkness is wise
Although they will think you are naive

Don't let 'em lower your shoulders

Love 'em more while they try
Grow younger while you're growin' older
Be amazed by the sky

Darling, stay wild if you can (If you can)

The girl with the world in her hands (In her hands)
The kingdom of Heaven belongs to a boy
While his worry belongs to a man

Stay gentle, stay gentle

The most powerful thing you can do
Oh, gentle, unbreakable you
Here is a video of the song with lyrics. Sing along to really let the message into your heart!

In just one week, we will gather together in our virtual sacred circle for a powerful Winter Solstice Ceremony. When I consulted my oracle and spirit teachers in preparation for this ceremony, the vision was so clear. I will share more about that with you in a few days.

Together on the winter solstice longest night, we will rest in the warm, dark, healing womb of Mother Earth to release our own darkness and nurture our soul.

Join us for the Winter Solstice Ceremony ~ Native Flute Meditation and Shamanic Journey on ZOOM on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Suggested donation of $25-$45 accepted in the spirit of sacred reciprocity. A portion of your gift benefits the Muchia Té Indigenous Land Trust to support the cultural revitalization of the coastal Rammaytush people.

Gather in sacred circle to honor the Winter Solstice, to embrace the stillness of the longest night of the year and to emerge lighter, wiser and nurtured by spirit.

Let go of everyday concerns and rest in peaceful meditation to the soothing sounds of Native American Flute music played live.

Journey with the drum to the unseen realms to connect with compassionate guardian spirits for guidance and healing through direct revelation.

Aligning with the cycles of the celestial beings in our sky, including Father Sun and Grandmother Moon, connects us more deeply to Great Spirit and reminds us that we are also an integral part of the cosmos.

Hugs and blessings,

Sonya
