Hello Music
Lover,
Saxophonist
David Sanborn was relaxed,
gracious and fun backstage after
his recent Yoshi's Oakland show
(10/26/14). We talked for a long
while about the sad state of the
music industry, the
undesirability of having a major
label deal, the futility of doing
studio recordings, staying fit on
the road, saxophone repairs, and
meeting up for the first time in
Thailand back in 1997 after we
each performed for the King at
his Golden Jubilee Festival. I
showed him how cute and handsome
he was in our first photo
together, and he exclaimed, "You
were a babe! What happened to
us?"
Now I am fired up! Nothing like a
burning concert by the
saxophonist who has influenced me
the most, David Sanborn, to get
me in the mood to play
contemporary jazz and fusion from
the '70s & '80s with my
TIGRESS band. Even though David
and I commiserated about the
daunting changes in the music
industry, we both agreed that
playing LIVE is where it's at!
So, let me know the venues,
festivals and events where you
would like to hear TIGRESS play,
and I will get right on
that.
Wishing you and your loved ones a
festive and heartwarming holiday
season.
Cheers!
Sonya

P.S. Lets
face it, telling someone you met
a celebrity just doesn't cut
it in the digital age. Nope. You
need to take a selfie with them,
and share it with the world on
social media, or it didn't
happen. Actress Kirsten Dunst
gives us a star's view of the
selfie process in the short
film Aspirational (2:36). The
message? Remember to behave and
have some manners... or your
favorite celebrity will frown in
the picture.
Do
you find all of this celebrity
nonsense to be rather obnoxious?
I mean, whatever happened to
requesting a simple autograph? If
you are so disgusted that you
want off this list, respond with
a selfie of you clicking the
